Final Project

Hallway Motion Tracking #1 from Melissa Porter on Vimeo.

Overall, I think this is pretty decent for a one week project. I wish that there were marker on the wall that I chose. Still isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be, but I think it's still good. Hope you enjoy.

Final Project Update #2

Hey All-

So, on Tuesday, I positioned motion trackers on the left side of the hall where I wanted to place the flat screen TV. Though it was really shaky, the TV latched on. And today, with the short time frame I decided against animating something specifically hospital related and instead masked a hand drawn animation under the TV- and voile!

Seems to be working.. still shaky.

Liquid Nitrogen Explosion

I wish this video was better quality, but this explosion happened this morning in my physics class. Crazy.

Final Project Update #1

Pitch - From my undergrad thesis film, which I shot last semester on 16mm, I am hoping to take a small tracking shot out of the film where my main character walks down a hospital hallway. The camera is following behind the character and I want to motion track a television on the wall as he walks by. I'm not sure if this will work out, but I want to have something animated in the television (as if it is on- i.e. a medical commercial).

I will have more fleshed out details tomorrow!

Tracking, Shapes and Mask Assignments

First Assignment

Hey all-
I went a little ape shit on this project and I'm not too photoshop savvy. I decided upon four images that I liked - first was this crazy desert like planet background, a robotic looking rocket man, a dome, and yellow smoke. And this is the crazy mess I came up with:

I got a little bored and did this as well:

A little ridiculous. Hope you enjoy.

Introduction

Hello all. My name is Melissa. I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas for fifteen years of my life before I lived in Dallas and then made the move to Austin to attend college. I am often called Kansas or Porter by most of my friends. I am excited for class to start picking up (and thrilled we're not using flash). As far as my artistic abilities are concerned, I began painting at a very young age and I think that throughout my life I have tried one expression of art after another. I still paint and play the violin. When I was in middle school I tried my hand at theatre and singing. I was an active theatre student in high school, almost pursing a degree in musical theatre and acting. I miss acting for the stage tremendously. But, something happened in between my junior and senior years of high school and I began directing stage productions. I suddenly had a need to make films. And here I am.

I have just finished up my third year at UT, having completed my undergraduate thesis film, Broken. Unfortunately, I do not have the film up on vimeo yet! I have one more sound mix coming up before I submit to festivals. Once that's done, I'll have the link posted on here.

Right now I am co-producing a television pilot for which I also wrote with a small team. I am directing a music video in August and am in the pre-production stages of my next film, hoping to shoot at the end of July. If any of you are interested in seeing my work, I should have my website up sometime this month, as well as vimeo. I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
